Women's State Championship Scratch Race

A small, but elite field contested the MN State Women's Scratch Race Championship last Thursday.  The 30-lap affair featured a number of attacks as riders repeatedly tested the legs and attentiveness of the field. Linsey Hamilton (Speedfix) started things with a charge in lap 2 that eventually netted her a 100-meter gap before she succumbed to the pursuit of the field. Despite the repeated attacks, the field reassembled with 5 laps to go. In the bell lap, Hamilton attacked with a strong jump in turn 1.  Her sprint was just enough to pip Megan Kelly (Omnium) at the line, with new racer Meg Browning (UofM) claiming bronze.  Congratulations to Linsey Hamilton, the 2012 MN State Scratch Race Champion.

Muscle Milk Miss-n-Out

This Thursday brings another installment of The Muscle Milk Miss-n-Out Race Series for Cat 3 racers. Racers will earn points in each race and their nightly scores will accumulate toward the overall series podium. Following a rain out on the last scheduled date, this week will be the second Muscle Milk Miss and Out race of the year. Lionel Space is currently on top of the leader board after an impressive show of talent during the first week.

2012 USA Cycling Juniors Track Nationals

We would like to congratulate all of our junior riders racing in the 2012 USA Cycling Juniors Track Nationals. Jordan Cullen, our own here at the NSC Velodrome, is the new 17-18 Jr. National Champion in the Individual Pursuit and Team Pursuit! Jordan and his teammates also grabbed the bronze medal in the Team Sprint. The gap between silver and bronze was a razor-thin 0.008 seconds! Valerie McGoldrick stepped onto the podium in 4th place in the 6km scratch race for 15-16 year olds and took 8th place in the Omnium. Anya Malarski also raced at Nationals, coming away with three top-10 finishes in a highly-competitive 13-14 field.
